Ages: 13 – Adult | Fall Semester
Dive into the world of content creation and storytelling! This introductory course teaches students how to move from creativity to camera, learning how to confidently step on camera and begin creating content. Students will explore the fundamentals of visual storytelling, camera handling, framing, and lighting while developing the skills needed to communicate ideas clearly through video.
Through hands-on projects such as mobile phone filmmaking, short-form content, and product-style videos, students will learn how to plan, shoot, and direct their own work. Emphasis is placed on building confidence, creativity, and a strong visual voice from the very beginning.
This course also focuses on taking video projects from potential to production, teaching students how to turn raw footage into a finished product. Using DaVinci Resolve, students will learn editing techniques such as cutting, pacing, transitions, color correction, and audio design.
Projects may include music videos, stop motion, timelapse photography, and narrative edits, helping students understand how editing shapes story and impact. By the end of the course, students will be able to take their footage and produce polished, cohesive videos.
